Fitness Equipment For The Office
Please help me, I need to get fit but don’t know where to start?
Hello! Basically I have given myself 6 months to get very fit as I am applying to be a Royal Navy diver and cardiovascular fitness is the key requirement to get through selection and training.
In brief, just to give you an idea, a part of the selection process is as follows (and you’re wearing a drysuit for the whole thing):
Run as a squad along the bank of the mile-long artificial bank in eleven minutes. Pick up air tanks (about 30lbs) and run back in about 8/9 minutes. Then get in to equipment and swim length of lake. At far end, get out and complete a circuit of sit-ups, press-ups and chin-ups.
I need to be able to do this, on minimal sleep, every day. My facts may be slightly wrong but this is generally what happens at selection.
I am a 22yr old male who has this week given up smoking and junk food. I have six months to get to the relevant level of fitness, whilst working mon-fri 9-5 in an office.
Roughly, what regime should I follow?

If you can find a way to go swimming a few times a week, maybe at a local gym. Run three times a week, I would see how you do the first day and up your speed and distance every week. Lift weights on the days you don’t run and stretch 20 seconds each morning and night for you whole body (this will help it take the changes to your fitness level without hurting your self. Drink lots of water, up your lean proteins and vitamins.
That’s awesome you quit smoking, it was one of my best decisions.
