How do “you” communicate for a hobby ?
I am an Amateur Radio operator.I work as a volunteer in many public services.There are several outlets for this hobby.Some of the things we do,are train to help with disasters,911,Red Cross,dog races,medical & weather situations & any other times that radio communication is necessary.Ham radio will work when other communications fail.I have a radio in my home & in my car.Both work with a car battery & we are ready to help almost any time.I don’t use a cell phone.I am able to make phone calls with my radio from anywhere.Anyone at any age is acceptable to test for a license.It is fun.With the correct equipment,it is possible to talk with others all over the world.I know a couple of people that have talked with the astronauts while they were far away in outer space.Some U.S. Presidents & some movie & recording artists have earned their license & will talk to the general public.You might want to check it out.It is fun to be able to help people.
I am also a “Ham” and have talked to an astronaut and on both sides of Europe. My husband was trying to talk to another Ham he thought was in Maui Hawaii but could not get through. Finally he called me as at time there were not too many women who were Hams and I did get through and found out the location was Mari {I think it’s right as it was quite some time ago} which is it the Northern part of Africa and there was only 18 Hams in the country. I could go on with what I was able to do but it would take up too much space. Have Fun.
