What should I expect while on bed rest at the hospital?
My doctor wants me to come in for a few days because I’m having contractions and he’d like to monitor to make sure we’re okay and that we won’t have to deal with preterm labor.
I was wondering what I should expect. Is it like having lots of free time? If I’m able to go to the cafeteria or the library am I going to have to take medical equipment with me like they do on TV (you know the thing with the bag that you pull around)? Is there a “lights out” time? Can my husband and daughter stay with me? Anything else you wanna add? I’m a little nervous.
If by ‘free time’ you mean staying in a hospital bed all day, then yes. They may want to hook you up with a uterine contraction monitor, and then they will be able to keep a close eye on what’s happening with your labor without someone being there all the time.
Of course, you husband and daughter can stay with you, the exact hours will depend on the individual hospital’s policy, though. All the best and be brave.
