What do you think about living in Maple Ridge, BC?
I am currently living in the UK and thinking of returning to BC. I was raised in Surrey and my parents now live in Langley. I don’t know anything about Maple Ridge but (online) it seems like it is fairly rural (and lower house prices) but some amenities and good transport links. Any thoughts on the pros/cons of living there compared to Langley? Things I am keen to know about are medical care, schools, shopping, pet supplies etc. I will be commuting to downtown Vancouver and my husband doesn’t drive.

Hi Michael, thanks for the reply. The commute doesn’t worry me too much. I have been commuting 1.5hrs each way from where I live now into central London. I like the idea of Maple Ridge because of the West Coast Express…
“Hi”…..I am always hesitant to answer questions like this because other responders will tell you how nice Maple Ridge is and they are correct,but my personal opinion, and take it for what it’s worth ,is that Maple Ridge is too far as concerns commuting to Vancouver on a daily basis. ( Min. of 2 hours each way)

Maple Ridge does have great amenities and is a great community though if you didn’t have to commute and that’s just the plain truth……sorry !
I would look elsewhere unless you prefer to be either travelling and working 15 to 16 hrs. hours a day .

Edit…OK..then fair enough…….I’d say Maple Ridge has all you need…..a younger community demographically speaking and nicer than Langley which is getting rather spread out and busy. If the West Coast Express doesn’t bother you then Maple Ridge has my endorsement .
You should be able to glean school , real estate ,doctor info and medical (hospital), shopping , and amenities info etc. etc. off the net easily. There’s tons of sites on the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows area.
It’s a comminity wiith lots of “families” and kids ,horses and places to walk a dog , and it’s close to beautiful and scenic camping areas. The downtown core is just nice and modern with lots of stores (including pet ) and has all the amenities and is fairly large.
Anyway…nothing wrong with Maple Ridge at all and dare I say this, but far enough away from your parents that they are not over all the time but close enough for nicely spaced visits ! *lol*
